Hair Analysis

Certain elements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and sodium are critical to health.

However, other elements such as mercury, cadmium and lead are not and could be potentially toxic. Good health de-pends on having the right balance of nutritional elements and low lev-els of toxic elements. Hair element analysis is an easy and inexpensive way to measure these levels. Hair element analysis is an easy and inexpensive way to assess the levels of essential and toxic elements.

Less than one gram of hair is needed to test for 45 essential and toxic elements.

Essential Elements

Essential elements are essential because they are needed to maintain health. For example, potassium and sodium are essential for proper heart function, while calcium and magnesium are essential for bone development,

Toxic Elements

Toxic elements usually cause damage by taking the place of essential elements and interfering with their usual function. For example, calcium helps strengthen bone, but lead can take the place of calcium in bone, making bone more porous and less sturdy.

Conditions related to toxic elements

Anxiety/Depression (Lead, Mercury, Arsenic)
Memory Impairment (Lead, Cadmium)
Heart Disease (Antimony, Cadmium, Lead)
Neurological Problems (Arsenic, Bismuth)

Essential minerals

Zinc is involved in the production, storage and secretion of insulin and is necessary for growth hormones.

Magnesium is required for normal muscular function, especially the heart. A deficiency has been associated with an increased incidence of abnormal heart conditions, anxiety and nervous-ness.

Potassium is critical for normal nutrient transport into the cell. A deficiency can result in muscular weakness, mild depression and lethargy.

Medical prescription is not required for testing

Hair is ideal tissue for sampling and testing. Clinical results have shown that a properly obtained sample can give an indication of mineral status and toxic metal accumulation following long term or even acute exposure.

Diets high in refined and processed foods, alcohol , stress, medications, contraceptives, smoking, hair dyes, anti-antiperspirants, and dental amalgams…just to name a few.

A hair analysis testing kit will be provided to you with instructions for collecting hair along with pre-addressed, pre-paid packaging for shipping.

Generally speaking test results will come back within 10 to 20 days.

Test results are sent back to your practitioner who will then schedule a follow-up visit with you to go over the results and prescribe a hormone balancing protocol based on results.

Many health care providers will cover testing, although it is best to confirm with them prior to testing.
